Abstract of Imperial War Museum North

I’ve had the idea for this photograph in my head for a while. The main tower or “view platform” of the Imperial War Museum North at Salford Quays doesn’t just give great views over the quays and towards Manchester city centre, but also is interesting in its own right. The above photograph of the museum’s tower was taken yesterday. In my opinion the fluffy clouds work well against the dark black of the sky and this contrasts well with the hard lines of the building. There is something I really like about high contrast monochrome photographs like this. Perhaps the modern architecture of Salford Quays could enable me to produce a small set of similar images, maybe of the Lowry and the Millennium Bridge.
