This is one of the most famous views of Whitby from the east side of the town looking down the Abbey Steps towards the harbour and over to the West Cliff’s area. I was surprised to see just how many tourists were really struggling to climb the 199 steps up to St. Mary’s Church and Whitby Abbey. It was a warm, sunny Saturday morning in June but still, it is worth the climb for a view like the above.
