Blea Tarn in Little Langdale is one of the most spectacular lakes in the Lake District National Park. This was the second and third time I had visited the small tarn. On my drive up to the Lakes I took a detour to explore the Langdales in the rain to get an idea of where I could park and what I wanted to get if the weather improved. Below you can see the rain on the tarn, although the water was more still, giving a better reflection. The next day the weather had improved greatly and I went back to get a slightly different view, but still with the Langdale Pikes in the background, this time with the sunlight on them!

In fact I had parked my car in the car park just in front of the gallery. In framing the photograph I went for a close up and cropped out the river, although you can see the railings on the edge of the bank in the foreground.

backed up his boat trailer right into my photograph (as you can see on the far left of the frame). I waited about ten minutes for him to unhook the trailer and drive his 4×4 out of my photograph. I still took the photo though because I had worked hard to frame the reflection of the cafe in the water.

I first walked up to White Nancy with a group of friends when staying at the nearby Savio House retreat as a child. It was built in 1817 by John Gaskell. Originally it had an door into a single room which was furnished with stone benches and a round stone table, but this entrance is now blocked.
