River Seine from the Eiffel Tower by Ed OKeeffe

OK, the last photograph of Paris for a while but how could I publish a set of images from such a famous city without showing you a picture taken from the top of the Eiffel Tower. It is very interesting to me how the light worked, the clouds were really low and dark but for some reason the buildings have sunlight on them, I only wish this picture had been captured on digital RAW format as I would have been able to perfectly expose and correct the light in all the buildings. Still I find it an interesting photograph of the city.

La Samaritaine from the River Seine by Ed OKeeffe

Taken in April 2005 this photograph shows the large department store called La Samaritaine on the banks of the River Seine in Paris, France. The store opened in 1869 and sells a lot of luxury items. I wanted to publish this picture because if your in Paris, it has some fantastic views over the city from its rooftop cafe. Sadly, according to a BBC News article in June of 2005 it was shut down because inspections found the building was a serious fire risk.

Notre Dame de Paris Cathedral by Ed OKeeffe

For a couple of weeks I have been meaning to go back through my photo library to find images of my April 2005 trip to Paris, France. I was only there for 4 days but took at least a 1,000 photos. I have two favorites, the photograph above of Notre Dame de Paris is one of them. The Church’s name means “Our Lady of Paris”. The River Seine runs beside the Cathedral, just off the bottom of this picture. I think it is the colours that make this photograph, the red and greens of the trees contrast well with the blue sky and stone of the building.
