This was the only photograph I took on a recent afternoon at Willowpool Gardens. I found the intricate carved detailing very eye catching, especially when contrasted against the green moss and weathered look to the wood. This might once have been someones pride and joy, sat at the foot of their bed. Today it stands in a dark corner of a salvage yard and garden centre. I can only wonder about its history and where it came from…

No hope was definitely a sign for yesterday’s photo shoot around Worsley, which I had been planning for a few weeks. Now this sign probably didn’t read “No Hope” originally, I would be grateful if anyone could work out what it would have said when it was new. So why was it a day of no hope?

Well I had my camera set on ISO 1600 the whole day. ISO is the sensitivity of the camera, so I usually shoot at 200 unless indoors or occasionally at night. The higher the number the more grainy / noisy the picture will be. Fortunately I will be returning to Worsley in the next week or two to re-shoot my photographs. A lesson learned the hard way. There’s just no hope for me!

Even when it is an overcast day it seems as if these tinted office windows reflect blue skies. I took this photo as I thought the pattern of the small windows was a little different to most offices. It really needs a window cleaner or an outline of a person stood in one of the windows to give you a sense of scale. I was going to straighten up the lines, due to the distortion of the lens it looks as though the top line is curved. This is more noticeable on wider angle photographs like the above.

I remember Um Bongo fruit juice from when I was a child. It was one of my favourites but I can’t think of the last time I saw it for sale in a supermarket in the UK. However in Portugal it seemed very popular and many of the shops were selling it. Apart from the sweet taste, the other thing that I liked about Um Bongo was the illustrations on the cartons, so I decided to buy one of each flavour that was available in the local supermarket and on the last day of my holiday I took the above photo.
