Whilst visiting family in Sardinia, Italy I spotted this luxurious looking motor yacht speeding through the Mediterranean Sea. I have seen dozens of these in various ports and harbours, but it is rare for me to see one out on the open seas. Being white it tricks the camera into using a very short shutter speed, which causes the sea around to be a little darker than it actually was.

I noticed this archway whilst walking around the narrow streets of Cagliari, the capital of Sardinia. It had to be photographed because it looked as if it might fall down on me there and then! I love the detail and textures in the stonework. It makes me wonder how many years it has been there, and was it originally part of something bigger. What did it look like when it was new?!

Photographs of this particular sunrise have been published before, but I wanted to share with you the very first image taken that early morning on the beach at Pula, Sardinia. This was the first glimpse of the sun and the camera was zoomed in to 135mm. I love the dark reds and purples in the sky and the reflection of the brighter oranges on the Mediterranean Sea at the bottom of the frame.

The Sant Efis Hotel just outside Pula in the south of Sardinia has one of the nicest swimming pools I have had the pleasure to both photograph and swim in. Back in September 2007 my parents and I stayed here and as I have just finished my degree, I was thinking of holidaying. However, it will have to wait as I neither have the money nor the time, as I am now starting the process of taking my photography from part-time earner to full-time career. My future is exciting…
