Photographs of this particular sunrise have been published before, but I wanted to share with you the very first image taken that early morning on the beach at Pula, Sardinia. This was the first glimpse of the sun and the camera was zoomed in to 135mm. I love the dark reds and purples in the sky and the reflection of the brighter oranges on the Mediterranean Sea at the bottom of the frame.

The Sant Efis Hotel just outside Pula in the south of Sardinia has one of the nicest swimming pools I have had the pleasure to both photograph and swim in. Back in September 2007 my parents and I stayed here and as I have just finished my degree, I was thinking of holidaying. However, it will have to wait as I neither have the money nor the time, as I am now starting the process of taking my photography from part-time earner to full-time career. My future is exciting…

I took this photograph while walking around the historic ruins of Nora, according to my uncle (and my memory) this is Pula Harbour. Traditionally it was one of the best places to keep a boat on the island because it was so protected from the wind and weather. This would explain why the Phoenicians founded Nora in the 8th Century BC. Sadly, this small harbour is silting up and a lot of the bigger boats have been moved down the coast.

The above photograph shows an abandoned tower that I found on a walk on the south coast of the island of Sardinia, Italy last September. Walking up the stairs there was no signs of life when knocking on a large steel door. From the information I can find online these towers were originally used to send messages (presumably through Morse Code or something similar) around the coast to various ports. The island had traditionally had a high military presence due to its prominent position in the Mediterranean Sea.

Over the past week or two I am happy to have been able to get out with my camera, although I realise that a lot of the photos being published are focused more around city centre Manchester than anything else. I have some interesting new subjects lined up and a few great photographic trips / holidays / adventures (call it what you will) planned for the coming months. However, if there is a subject, topic or place you would like to see me photograph then please contact me or leave a comment below, because I am always on the look out for new and exciting locations, models or subjects.
