St. Peter’s Basilica is not only regarded as one of the greatest churches in the world, but also one of the holiest Catholic sites. In addition this interior is the largest of any Christian church in the world. Walking across the vast square in front of this basilica nothing can prepare you for that first view of what you can see above. My photograph is too small to do this place any justice and I’m not going to try to give measurements to attempt to illustrate the size. I am unsure why the middle area of the flour was sectioned off to visitors, perhaps one of my kind visitors may educate us in the comments below.

The Pantheon Church in Rome was built in 126 AD and is still used as a place of worship today, nearly two thousand years later. It is worth a visit for any tourist in this incredible city. Photographically it was a challenge. When travelling I don’t usually take my tripod out in the day (only at dusk and at night) so in the above photo I used a mini tripod called a gorilla pod. It took a few attempts to get the image I was looking for and a longer exposure made many of the tourists blur out of the picture as they moved across the frame.

The outside of the Pantheon was one of the biggest disasters I had during my week in Italy’s capital. The scaffolding was there all week so this is the only picture I captured of the front of the church. I will have to wait until next time to get the image I want of the front of this building. Below you can see the unique ceiling of the church, it is unique because it is still the world’s largest unreinforced concrete dome. The opening at the top is 43.3 metres (or 142 feet) from the floor of the church.

The parish church in the village of Orton is All Saints and from the outside it doesn’t look very ornate, but inside the windows are photographic treasures. They are modern works of art, but on a cloudy day with a tripod I was able to capture half a dozen of the best stained glass photographs I have captured so far. Many religious buildings have stained glass, but it is either very high up (causing perspective issues) or there are restrictions on tripod use.

Doing a little research into the Trafford Centre interior I read a fantastic comment on-line about this glorified shopping mall. This author of the comment (I forget where I read it) said he had a love / hate relationship with the place. On one hand it was an interesting place to go with your camera, but on the other it looks like the mansion of a lottery winning thug! I thought this was spot on, the above photograph seems to illustrate this viewpoint extremely well in my opinion.
