“Go Penguins” is the new celebratory public art event taking place throughout Liverpool, St Helens and the Wirral and it really reminds me of the “Cow Parade” a few years ago in Manchester. Mark and Rachel suggested a walk around Liverpool to see and photograph a few of them. The above two were in the Albert Docks area of the city. On the left is number 7 “A dry new world” by Mary Lundquist and on the right is number 8 “Global Warning” by Ines Dearman. There are a lot that I didn’t get to see, but I hope to be back in the city before the 10th of January when the art trial comes to an end.

Photographing events like the Bristol Balloon Fiesta can be quite a challenge. The above image was taken back in 2008 when rain cancelled the main evening show we really went to photograph. This put me off to the point where I ended up not going this summer, when by all accounts the weather was fantastic! Still at least we did capture a few balloons getting off the ground. Here you can just about make out five balloons ready for lift off.

Another day another job. Today was the Christening of baby AJ. Anthony James is the 5 month of son of Amy, one of Kay’s very close friends. To everyone’s disappointment when we got to the church the priest had only one rule “No Photography”. Well the lens cap went on and I sat down! However after the formal service was over and the other families had posed by the font, I set up for some great group shoots of AJ and his family. The above image was taken at the pub afterwards. AJ seemed very happy and smiling at everyone.
