The last time I visited Newcastle Upon Tyne was sadly a couple of years back and this is when I was able to capture the above photograph. However at the time I only published a photo of the bridge down in it’s normal position with people walking across. Each day at around midday the bridge closes temporarily and then slowly rises up. This allows larger ships under the bridge, although on the day that this was captured only a small tourist boat went under.

The Angel of the North is a huge sculpture just outside Newcastle in the North of England. This view shows the full height of the work of art compared to the tourists below. As you can see the figure is stood on a hillside looking out across the motorway and over the countryside beyond. Although not my favourite angle or photograph of the Angel, I do feel this adds a slightly new viewpoint. I hope to one day return here at dusk for some low light Angel photography!

Dieu et Mon Droit is the motto of the British Monarch, but I am unsure what building this embellishment is attached to. I remember Mark pointing it out to me as a potential photo as we walked along the bank of the River Tyne in Newcastle. It was just above the doorway and I liked the contrast of the bright blues and the gold colours.

We are looking at the side facing towards the River Tyne taken from the Newcastle side of the river. I love the way the light hits the mirrored glass at different angles and changes colour and intensity as you move around the bulding.
