Dieu et Mon Droit is the motto of the British Monarch, but I am unsure what building this embellishment is attached to. I remember Mark pointing it out to me as a potential photo as we walked along the bank of the River Tyne in Newcastle. It was just above the doorway and I liked the contrast of the bright blues and the gold colours.

Although not immediately apparent you can see here how part of the Sage concert hall is clear glass. We are looking at the side facing towards the River Tyne taken from the Newcastle side of the river. I love the way the light hits the mirrored glass at different angles and changes colour and intensity as you move around the bulding.

Taken using a Sigma 10mm lens, I was able to get the majority of this famous structure into my frame. The sky I feel helps to highlight the bridge and shows off the design very well.

Wandering around Newcastle city centre before getting our train back to Manchester I noticed this interesting looking gold globe on the Newcastle side of the River Tyne. It was one of the half dozen photographs I took that day, but I was playing with the Canon Powershot G10 camera. This was Mark’s new compact and I was obviously using it in Raw mode to make full use of the images when I got them into Lightroom. We looked around here for five minutes trying to find some information about what it was, but there was nothing to find.
