The car park for my rock photo was called the “Surprise View Carpark” and this made me very curious to see just what this view was like. Well this is the best image I could capture that day and as you can see at this point the sun was behind the clouds. However I did like the view and the image works well with the very obviously ‘lead in’ line of the road which leads the viewer’s eye into and around the landscape.

After capturing the rocky landscape my Great Aunt told me about in Derbyshire I noticed the weather clouding over more and rain looking much more threatening. So I decided to drive to Bakewell for a Tart. When I got to Bakewell and found the original shop, I realised it isn’t called a tart as Mr Kipling had lead me to believe, but it was actually a “Bakewell Pudding”. This is the shop that claims to be the first and only original Bakewell pudding shop in the town. The puddings were delicious and I look forward to returning to the town of Bakewell on a brighter day.

My Great Aunt Ann told me months ago that we should go to see some interesting rocks in Derbyshire towards Sheffield. Since getting my car I finally have both a way to get myself there and a free Sunday to drive over there. The weather wasn’t great but the sun did come out for a few minutes when I was trying to get this landscape picture. We then went to a near by town to buy some tarts (more news on that tomorrow).

On my recent drive around the Goyt Valley area of the Peak District National Park my second reservoir visit after Lamaload was Errwood Reservoir. The above picture was taken with my older Nikon D80 and the Sigma 10-20mm super wide angle lens. This explains the slight distortion of the clouds, but I like it this way. Unfortunately I think it is time to get the D80′s sensor cleaned as there are a couple of specs of dirt on this frame which spoil it a little (obviously they could be easily and quickly removed in Photoshop).
