Dunham Massey Hall was built in 1616 by Sir Gerge Booth. Today the hall, gardens and surrounding park land are managed by the National Trust. It is a popular Cheshire tourist attraction with over 100,000 visitors each year. I have visited this park dozens of times having grown up in the area, but this view of the hall never seems to grow old for me. I have photographed it in all four seasons and even have a photo of it covered in snow.

Dunham Massey Park has a number of small pools and ponds. Many people stand around them feeding the ducks in summer, particularly around the Hall. This pool is just a couple of minutes walk from the hall and is called island pond. Taken in autumn there isn’t a lot of wildlife on the water at this time of the year. I should probably try to retake the photo in summer to compare the difference.

This was another test of my new iPhone 4S camera. Here the conditions were less favourable due to it being later in the day, the sky is still great, but the barn didn’t have a lot of light on it. However here I used the iPhones HDR mode and although nowhere near as good as my Nikon DSLR, it is very acceptable for sharing on the web. I hope to feature more quick snaps live from photo shoots on my Twitter and Facebook pages.

As the weather here in England starts to get colder and frostier I thought it would be worth showcasing a couple of last years snow pictures. The picture above shows an old wooden fence in Dunham Park just outside Altrincham. Usually I would have referred to the colour of the fence as white rather than cream, however next to the pure, almost paper white of the fresh snow this wooden fence is far from white. Perhaps it is just waiting for a fresh coat of paint in the spring!
