With the World Cup football session in full effect it amused me to come across this lost hat with the England flag on it. At first I walked past, but then looked back and though that at the right angle it could make for something a little different for the website. I will leave it up to your imagination as to what you think might have happened to the hat and it’s owner. Did he throw it away after a football defeat? Did he lose it in the wind whilst walking his dog? Was the owner of this hat even a football fan?!

It fascinates me how many different types and flavours of alcoholic spirits are available in shops. In the above photo I captured a collection of miniatures in the shop window of an off-licence in Blackpool. I am not much of a drinker so I have only tried a few of these. The shapes of each of the bottles are all slightly different too, which is strange.

Obviously yesterday’s Rose Gold ring was a product photograph for a client and I showed it to you as an idea of what can be done with macro photography and the right lighting. However, the client didn’t want clean white backgrounds, they wanted something striking and unique to their brand. The above photo was their favourite out of the three days I have spent shooting for them. This necklace is one of the most original pieces I have every seen, the “black” Opal stone is the size of a large stamp and I felt that the roses contrasted well with the blues of the stone.

I haven’t done a great deal of stock or close up photography, but I enjoyed creating the above image of an 18ct Rose Gold and Diamond Ring. For this shot I used my 50mm f1.8 prime lens with a Vivitar close-up adapter on the front. Obviously diamonds rings are not only extremely reflective but also quite small. I focused manually by moving the camera closer and closer to the lens until the main area of diamonds popped into focus.
