This Ford Escort Mark II rally car was driven by Marcus Noble with Helen Hall as co-driver. They went on not only to complete the 2011 Malcolm Wilson Rally, but also to come first in the B11 Class. Just going on looks alone I think I prefer this Ford Escort to the Mark One or newer models. The Escort preceded the Ford Focus which is a car that I like very much.

This is the second BMW 325 that I photographed at the 2011 Malcolm Wilson Rally. In previous years I don’t recall seeing any BMWs, modern or classic. This one was driven by Thomas Stephenson with Marc Crack as the co-driver. I choose the photo of him driving out of the hairpin bend as I preferred the look of the gravel being kicked up by the rear wheel drive as it came out of the power slide.

Taken on the first stage of the 2011 Malcolm Wilson Rally, this Subaru Impreza was driven by Glyn Gaman with Rob Cook as the co-driver. Sadly they retired from the rally in the fourth stage due to gearbox issues. This photograph was taken in the Whinlatter Forest Park stage on an extremely tight, uphill hairpin bend. As such the cars were slowing down a lot in order to make it around the corner and then accelerating out of the corner causing a good amount of gravel to be kicked up from the tyres. Just what I was looking for.

Whilst stood at the afternoon stage at Greystoke, I kept looking around for my cousin John, a local to this part of the world, who we had planned to meet. We had no mobile signal so it was almost impossible to

find him with the crowds of people. He drives a Ford Focus so when I saw this for a split second I thought he might have taken a wrong turn from the car park! Thankfully this Fiesta ST was driven by Nick Cristofaro with Rob Fagg as the co driver. They came an impressive 4th in their class.
