Hermia in the Woods

This is my second photograph of Kallista dressed up as Hermia from the play A Midsummer Night’s Dream by William Shakespeare. Claire and Lizzie had put the hard work in on this one, organising everything from the model and make-up to the set design and even hiring the clothes from Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre. But I had been asked to help with the photography and lighting; we ended up using my studio lights and camera. Claire took the majority of the photographs but the above image was one I managed to take for my portfolio. I was stood to the side watching the shoot and assisting when I saw this angle, the tree branches in the background seem to curve around in a mournful way (as was the intention at this point). On reviewing this fashion photograph it doesn’t work fantastically well in my opinion, but I still like it enough to share it with you. Does it work for you? Please comment below.
