Jess holding Mamiya C3 Camera

Meet Jess; she was one of the two girls I photographed last week for the Feltopia T-shirt photography that Josh wanted. Jess is also Josh’s girlfriend and he art directed the whole thing. I have now done over half a dozen shoots focusing on portrait photography in the studio and I feel that I am learning more about flash lighting and positioning.
The above photograph was shot with two lights, one to the left as the key light and one on her hair on half power. This was one of the only pictures that had almost no shadow on the white background. Using Photoshop this made it extremely simple to key out completely to get the “paper white” effect as I like to call it. The camera is an old twin lens reflex (TLR) which my dad had in his photography cupboard.
Josh originally came to me with the idea that he wanted “a photo shoot of a photo shoot” with the models posing as photographers, wearing his handmade t-shirt designs. I said we needed props and borrowed a couple of old cameras from my dad. Josh ran with the idea and this was one of the more successful images. In the end it works out very well, as I could use images like this in my portfolio or in advertising for my photographic services and Josh will obviously be using it in his advertising material and on his website. I am just looking forward to receiving the 22 16×12 inch prints from this shoot which I ordered this morning
