Waverley Paddle Steamer, Scottish West Coast

I wanted to photograph the west coast of Scotland, and coming back from this summer’s annual Edinburgh trip I was lucky enough to get the chance. I didn’t plan this at all, but ended up in the small fishing village of Dunure. After I had been around the village and harbour with my camera and finished off a large ice cream, I was just putting my camera away when I saw a large boat in the distance. So out came the camera as I walked back around the harbour to get the closest view I could as the Waverley paddle steamer sailed south past the village. This is the last sea-going paddle steamer in the world, built in 1946 and restored to full working condition in 2003. I have no idea where it was sailing from or to, but I am very pleased to be able to share this photograph with you.
