Ariel View of Venice’s Lido
I had obviously read and seen a lot of information about Venice before I went but it wasn’t until flying home that I saw this, the Lido. It is an 11 mile long sandbar which is (according to my grand parents) where a lot of Venetians go for their summer holidays, or at least that was traditionally where they went. Ariel photography has always been something of interest too me even though I rarely get the opportunity to take pictures from a plane.
This photograph was taken on a holiday with my grandparents and whilst on the trip I wrote a small diary, below follows what I wrote for this day…
We got up early to pack our bags and check out of the hotel. We left by half eight and needed to be at the airport for around half nine. The original plan was to get a public bus as we had done coming into Venice but instead we got a taxi (note, not an expensive water taxi, it was a normal taxi).
We took of from Venice at just after midday and as the weather was so great I got some nice ariel photographs through the planes window both of the Venetian lagoon and of Cheshire and Cheadle when landing back in Manchester.

BA609 Tiltrotor Aircraft
about 3 years ago - 2 comments
This is one of the most unique aircraft I have ever seen let alone photographed. You can’t call it a plane and you can’t call it a helicopter because it essentially the best of both worlds! The BA609 is a joint venture between Bell Helicopter Textron and AgustaWestland and is a civil twin-engined tiltrotor VTOL…

about 3 years ago - No comments
Here we see a Vulcan Bomber (Avro Vulcan XH558) just after take off from Farnborough International Airport. This is the only airworthy example of the 134 delta wing subsonic bombers that were operated by the Royal Air Force from 1953 until 1984. I was fortunate enough to take it’s photo at this years Farnborough Airshow.…

Meet the new Airbus A380, the world’s largest airliner. 16 have already been built and Singapore Airlines are already flying them. This plane can carry up to 853 passengers or 152 tons of cargo. It was on the top of my list of photographs to take at this years Farnborough International Airshow. The wing span…
Grace Spitfire at Farnborough Airshow
about 3 years ago - No comments
The Spitfire is one of the classics of British aviation and a plane that has been on my list of things to photograph for a long time; to see it in flight was an extra bonus. This photo was captured last Saturday at the Farnborough International Airshow. I hadn’t heard of it before Mark mentioned…
Boats at Pula, Sardinia, Italy
about 3 years ago - No comments
I took this photograph while walking around the historic ruins of Nora, according to my uncle (and my memory) this is Pula Harbour. Traditionally it was one of the best places to keep a boat on the island because it was so protected from the wind and weather. This would explain why the Phoenicians founded…
Rialto Bridge, Venice
about 3 years ago - No comments
One of the most famous sights and certainly the most famous bridge in Venice is the Rialto Bridge over the Grand Canal. It was completed in 1591 but there has been a dry crossing of the canal here since 1181. It is sad to see the graffiti on the bridge but I am pleased to…
Silhouetted Palm Trees at Sunrise

Looking out of my window right now the weather is almost completely opposite to what you’re seeing in the above photograph, so I thought I would share this beautiful sunrise photograph with you, to at the very least cheer me up. It was taken last September on the coast of Sardinia, Italy early one morning.…
Jet2 Plane at Manchester Airport
about 3 years ago - 2 comments
This is the 21st photograph of an aircraft I have taken and published here on my site but for once I am not going to attempt to find out what type of aircraft this is. According to visitors I have named a couple of aircraft wrongly, so in future, feel free to leave a comment…
Evening Light over Sardinia, Italy

Yesturday’s photograph was more about atmosphere than beauty, but in my opinion the above photograph is a beauty – landscape with a lot of atmosphere. You should be able to make out at least seven different areas of land getting fainter and fainter into the distance. Taken over three months ago this image was captured…
Rocky outcrop at Nora, Sardinia

I was hoping to take some photographs today but unfortunately nothing caught my eye enough for me to whip out my camera. So to break it up a little between Halloween and Guy Fawkes night / Bonfire Night I wanted to share the above image with you. It is one of my best coastal images…
